Endurance Altitude Tent

As a volunteer run group that regularly supports Bronze DofE expeditions, we’ve put a lot of gear through its paces — and the 200 and 300 Altitude Tent (and refuge to be honest) has quickly become a firm favorite among our leaders and young people. One of the standout features is how easily the tent fits into its oversized storage sack. No struggling to squeeze it back in — it just drops in with minimal effort, which is a huge plus when you’re dealing with multiple groups and time pressures. From a build quality standpoint, these tents are bomb-proof. Seriously. They’re incredibly robust, making them ideal for withstanding the kind of wear and tear you get when young people are using them in all weathers. The poles are excellent quality and we particularly love the design where they slide into sockets at one end. This clever feature makes pitching much easier, avoiding the usual wrestling match you get when trying to feed poles through both ends. We now own 13 of these tents now and use them to support around 35 young people on their Bronze expeditions each year. Due to their weight, we don’t ask the participants to carry them — they’re definitely on the heavier side — but that trade-off is more than worth it for the durability and ease of use they offer. For silver and gold we use much smaller lighter tents. In short: the Altitude Tent is tough, practical, and thoughtfully designed for group use. Highly recommended for any organisation needing reliable shelter for outdoor youth expeditions.

Our Gold team girls love these roomy tents because of the front area to stow wet kit, with the option of choosing which side to open if the weather is coming in. They are a little heavier than our old Vangos, and when we introduced them there were some initial complaints – until the first night. They are just so much more roomy and robust than the old tents, and can take a good pounding from the wind (we tried them on Dartmoor). All agree that the tents are much more waterproof and by the far the best school tent we have bought to date.

Great piece of kit, having the stability to deal with wind but the large porch area to take all of the kit needed for a Gold Expedition. We use these across all three levels of DofE. Having the peace of mind, that the tent will not change over a number of years, means we can buy small numbers each year when we have the funding and not have to change our training of young people to a new or slightly different tent type. Would highly recommend.

ACS Egham International School We have purchased The Endurance Altitude 300 tents or our Bronze DofE Programme to replace our older Vango 200 tents. The main difference besides financial cost is it’s heavier but more robust shell. The luxurious space for sleeping and keeping kit in is a huge bonus for the students. At first they did not appreciate the design nor comprehend how to quickly assemble it. However, they truly enjoy it’s durability and have improved their set up time by two fold now. The tents are excellent and have been designed with D of E in mind however we have had two tent poles break It would be better if the inner and outer came with bags as we often have to divide up the tent (and weight) among different students. An easy way to number them also would be good
